Chalcedony carved to depict the arms of Major-General Sir Thomas Valiant (1784-1845) KCB and KH.
Born in Scotland and married in Calcutta, Valiant served the Indian army from 1804 in the Bombay Lancers.
He died at Fort William, Calcutta, where a memorial was erected to his memory.

Surface scratches and minor marks. Slight wear to details.
Surmount loop shows base metal inner strengthening ring.
Chalcedony with frits and nicks, mostly to the edge of the shield.
Electronically tests as approximately 12ct gold.
